Our Custard Apple tree is one of the few fruit trees we have in our front yard; and it has on many fruits that are almost ripe. Custard apples are one of our favourite fruits.
While the birds have eaten a few of them, we have decided to pick some custard apples today.
You can tell when the custard apple is ready to be picked, it is usually pinker in colour and the outer skin appears to be softened.Custard apples that are not ready to be eaten should be wrapped in paper (we use newspaper) until they are ripened. The Custard Apple is also called Bull’s heart. It is sweet, but filled with seeds, I consider it to be nature’s custard.
