The Naseberry

Another fruit in season is the Jamaican Naseberry.  It is widely known as Sapodilla or Manilkara zapota.

Whenever we buy Naseberries, we cannot eat them immediately; they have to be wrapped in paper to be ripen.  Because of this, this fruit is loved by fewer persons.


The Naseberry is unattractively brown in colour but has a nice aroma.

Although it is not our favourite fruit, we buy them all the time as they are sweet and have a unique taste.  As soon as they are ripened, we wash them and eat them … skin and all (seeds excluded of course).
