Satureja Viminea – Jamaican Mint

Satureja Viminea or Costa Rican Mint is another name for the Jamaican mint which we have in our herb garden.  In Jamaica we call it “Pepper Mint”.

Satureja Viminea

The Satureja Viminea is not a true peppermint plant and its aroma is described as serpentine savory.

We use it mainly for tea to soothe stomach aches and for gas.

The Satureja Viminea or Jamaican mint is also used for baths and body gels which cools and tingles – invigorating the body and lifting the spirit.

Satureja VimineaI also read that the fragrance of the Satureja Viminea is pure and very intense. Unlike the well-known peppermint herb, this plant has a woody stem, upright growth and keeps a bushy shape. The Jamaican mint can be trained into a small tree reaching 6-7 ft in height.

  1. Awesome blog you have here but I was wanting to know if you knew of any message boards that cover the same topics talked about
here? I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get feedback
from other knowledgeable people that share
the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
