Life is exciting! We awake each day to a new set of 24-hours that offers us wonders and new possibilities to embark upon, to utilize, and to enjoy. Boredom ought not to be our state of being since we are dynamic beings.
The human brain is a thinking organ that learns and grows by interacting with the world through perception and action. In other words, we are always learning and our brains change as we interact with others and with our environment.
The human brain is able to continually adapt and rewire itself … even in old age it can grow new neurons! When researchers taught rats a new motor skill, scientists found that the animals’ brains had also changed.
Mental stimulation improves brain function and actually protects against cognitive decline.
My advice to persons who want to keep their minds in tip-top shape and to those who desire to expand their horizons: step out of your comfort zone and learn something new … something totally new!
