My parents boarded the Louis Cristal for their 8-day cruise to Cuba on Friday March 14th. For them, the appearance of this motor vessel with its bright orange lifeboats was very reassuring.
I understand that there are persons who seem to have Cruise Ships Phobia i.e. a fear for cruise ships which is based on their knowledge of what happened on the Titanic. My parents didn’t have this fear.
The Louis Cristal has eight lifeboats – each made to seat 150 passengers; and their Life Jacket Drill is done within 24 hours passengers board their ship.
The lifeboats on the Louis Cristal were used frequently during the cruise to transport passengers to and from the island of Cuba. This was necessary when the ship approached shallow harbour.
