One of the best things to practice on the job is prayer. As you’ve probably heard:
- “Prayer changes things.”
- “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.” ~Alfred Lord Tennyson
- “Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.” ~D. L. Moody
Corrie Ten Boom asked “Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” She also added … “Don’t just pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it.”
One such prayer appointment is pausing for prayer before we begin working. Your may view/download the powerpoint presentation – BeforeYouStartWorkToday. The prayer goes like this:
When it comes to praying or communicating with God, you do not have to say a pre-written prayer like the one above; just talk to God and tell him what is on your heart. Thank him, and ask him to give you wisdom; ask him to help and strengthen you.
Also, if it is inconvenient for you to pray at your desk, pray elsewhere . . . by the window, in the lavatory, or while going down the stairs.
As you make a habit of saying a prayer before starting work, bear in mind that “Prayer may not change things for you, but it will for sure, change you for things”. ~Samuel M. Shoemaker
