Ripe Banana Fritters

Ripe Banana FrittersWe have several banana trees growing on our hillside. Recently we reaped a bunch of riping bananas and will be making banana fritters.

Ripe Banana FrittersBanana fritters are our favourite breakfast accompaniment. They are easy to make and are usually enjoyed by all.

To make banana fritters you will need the following ingredients:

2 ripe bananas

1 egg

4 or 5 heaped tablespoons flour (depending on the size of the bananas)

1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Oil for frying


Preparation time: 10 – 15 minutes

Ripe Banana Fritters1. First, mash the ripe bananas in a bowl.

2. Add the egg and sugar and use your fork to whisk or combine them with the mashed bananas.

Ripe Banana Fritters3. Add in the flour and nutmeg and mix them together until there are no more flour lumps.

Ripe Banana Fritters4. Heat the oil inside a frying pan.

5. Add the banana fritters mixture one tablespoon at a time into the heated oil.

Ripe Banana Fritters6. Fry fritters over medium heat and turn as soon as they become golden brown.

7. When both sides are fried remove from pan and place into serving plate.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years, is that these fritters are not greasy. I think it’s because water is omitted from the list of ingredients.
