Photo – They Reminded Me Of Dandelions

While walking through our hillside, I found myself, for a moment, staring at what looked like dandelions. I know what plants they were, but they reminded me so much of dandelions. Spanish Needle plants (Bidens bipinnata)These plants are another kind of Spanish Needle plants (Bidens bipinnata) growing in our hills.

The first kind of Spanish Needle plants (Bidens pilosa) which I wrote about in this previous post; has needle-like black seeds; while the Bidens bipinnata has a seed-head similar to dandelions.

I understand now that both the Spanish Needle and dandelion plants belong to the same Aster family (Asteraceae). Spanish Needle Plants (Bidens bipinnata)
