We have a Longan fruit tree (pometia pinnata) growing favourably in our yard; it belongs to the plant family Sapindaceae – the maple and lychee family. We’ve also planted a few Lychee plants over the years, but they didn’t grow successfully at all. I read that the Longan fruit is used in traditional Chinese medicine as a tonic for the heart, to improve eye function, rejuvenate the blood, relieve stress, and cause the skin to glow. Women in particular, use this tonic to make them beautiful, and to boost their sex drive.
I understand too, that this fruit contains iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. It also has Vitamin A and Vitamin C. Read more about the health benefits of Longan.
