Today’s photo: Another White Sails (Spathiphyllum) or Peace Lily about to bloom.
I read here that NASA and the Associated Landscape Contractors of America have discovered that Peace lilies absorb and eliminates formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, xylene, ammonia, etc. found in our environment.Formaldehyde is a compound that is a significant consideration for human health. It is found in carpets, upholstery, glues, paint, etc. Benzene is an organic chemical compound that increases the risk of cancer and other illnesses such as bone marrow failure. Benzene is found in plastics, synthetic fibers, lubricants, rubber, pesticides, etc. Trichloroethylene is a chemical compound that is characterized as a human carcinogen and a non-carcinogenic health hazard. It is found in paint removers, rug cleaning solution, adhesives, and more.
Please note that although Peace lilies are powerful air-cleaning plants that naturally remove pollutants from the air, they also contains toxins that are harmful to humans and animals. All parts of this plant are toxic when ingested and consuming large quantities may result in convulsions, liver damage, renal failure, coma, and death. Read more @ pawsdogdaycare.com
