We have several Wild Petunias in our lawn, but we’ve weeded out many of them. These plants are wildflowers that bloom light purple, tubular flowers. The Wild Petunia (Ruellia nudiflora) grows in full sun or in partial shaded areas, and it attracts butterflies. It spreads by rhizomes and self-seeding, and the plant is easy to propagate by cuttings. The Wild Petunia is known to be an invasive species.
