Photos: Rose Periwinkle

Today’s photos show a Rose Periwinkle plant (Catharanthus roseus) which blooms white flowers; it is known as the White Rosy Periwinkle, but in Jamaica, it is known only as Periwinkle.The Rose Periwinkle plant also blooms pink and violet flowers, and the plant is attractive to bees, butterflies, and some birds. Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) This plant grows well in full sun and partial shade; it requires regular watering, and is propagated from seeds.

The Rose Periwinkle is grown in some places as an ornamental plant, but in other areas,  it is treated as a weed.Periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus)All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested.
