Today’s photos are of our first pineapple fruit.
The fruit is just in its starting stage, and I spotted it after noticing some of the leaves of the plant appearing very red. The pineapple plant (Ananas comosus) produces a single fruit from the center of the crown, other fruits may arise from side shoots of the plant. Our plant has no side shoots.I read that pineapple plants can fruit a total of three times during their lifetime before you must replace the plant, but not all plants are capable of producing multiple fruit and some plants may fruit more.
See final photo of our young pineapple fruit.
